Don't Watch the News

don't watch the news!
too depressing and grotesque
just turn it off
and read something instead

don't watch the news!
nothing good ever happens
reporters don't cry
or show anger in any way

don't watch the news!
rapists and killers, nothing else
too sad, too enraging
too disgusting to think about

don't watch the news!
protect yourself
just pray in ignorance
don't darken your thoughts

don't watch the news!
all they care about is money, it seems
do reporters go home and cry
or do they just not care?

just don't
